The Nebraska Council on Economic Education has partnered with the band Funding the Future to offer a 6 p.m. April 29 performance in the Nebraska Union Centennial Room.
The performance, which will include a brief rock-and-roll concert, is part of Funding the Future’s “Financial Literacy Tour.” The event is being offered in accordance with National Financial Literacy Month.
The event will cover the necessity of business and financial acumen in all industries including music and sports.
The band experienced their own financial struggles early on in their career. After overcoming those obstacles, they decided to share the message of their lessons learned. Over the years, they have become small business owners and have worked with Grammy award winner Quincy Jones’ Operation Hope. The touring band has a strong following and has done over 800 shows in the continental United States. They also have singles on the record charts and their original music can be heard in movies, TV shows and commercials. Funding the Future was formed in January and this will be the second financial literacy tour for the year.
The band’s purpose is to educate students across the country on the importance of smart financial decisions.
The Nebraska Council on Economic Education is non-profit and housed at UNL’s College of Business Administration.
