Dr. John Benson will share about his research with coyotes for Sunday with a Scientist participants this Sunday, January 31st.

The University of Nebraska State Museum-Morrill Hall’s monthly Sunday with a Scientist program will continue virtually during the spring 2021 semester with the first event kicking off from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Jan. 31 with John Benson from the School of Natural Resources.

Benson will share his research with coyotes. Participants will learn about coyote communication, from the sounds they make to the scat and scents they leave behind. They will practice observing like scientists by examining questions such as: does a coyote react to a new object in its environment, and can you interpret its response? Register to watch via Zoom or join via the Morrill Hall Facebook page.

This event will be offered for free via Zoom and Facebook Live for participants of all ages. Participants will meet University of Nebraska-Lincoln scientists and learn about a variety of topics related to science and natural history. During the Virtual Sunday with a Scientist events, presenters share scientific information in a fun, informal way through demonstrations, activities or by conducting science on site.

After learning about coyotes during the virtual Sunday with a Scientist, plan a visit to Morrill Hall to check out the new “Poop & Paws” exhibit opening Jan. 31.
