University Communication

The nomination deadline for the inaugural Nebraska DEI Impact Awards has been extended to March 29.

Presented by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the awards recognize individuals and groups actively working to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in transformative and sustainable ways on campus. Nominations are open to any student, faculty/instructor, staff or group demonstrating a significant contribution toward creating a diverse and inclusive campus community through the implementation of policies, research, procedures, initiatives or programs that reflect the university’s core values and beliefs.

“With these awards, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion hopes to institutionalize efforts of inclusive excellence while promoting the transformative approach many have taken to truly embed efforts into the fabric of organizations and research,” said Nkenge Friday, assistant vice chancellor for strategic initiatives.

The four award categories are:

  • Faculty — Diversity Leadership Faculty Award
  • Staff — Diversity Leadership Staff Award
  • Student (undergraduate and graduate/professional) — Promising Leader Award
  • Group — Collective Impact Award

“We invite all members of our campus to join us during our inaugural award ceremony on April 13, where we will highlight our award winners and the inspiring efforts they contributed to inclusive excellence here at Nebraska,” Friday said.
