A biopic on 19th-century author Oscar Wilde, “The Happy Prince,” and a tale of one teenager’s experience in a gay conversion therapy center, “The Miseducation of Cameron Post,” are the latest films to show at Nebraska’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. Both films open Nov. 2.

The Happy Prince

“The Happy Prince” is an intimate, tragic look into the final days of renowned author Oscar Wilde. Once the most famous man in London, Wilde dies a penniless vagabond, haunted by his past love affairs and unable to fix his relationship with his wife, Constance.

The film is rated R for sexual content, graphic nudity, language, and brief drug use. It shows through Nov. 15.

The Miseducation of Cameron Post

“The Miseducation of Cameron Post” follows Cameron, played by Chloë Grace Moretz, as she is sent to a gay conversion therapy center and meets other teenagers in her same predicament. While humorous, the film is also a heartfelt reflection of authenticity and self-preservation in the face of intolerance.

Nebraska alumna and novelist Emily M. Danforth, who wrote the novel which inspired the film, will host an audience question-and-answer session at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2. The film will screen through Nov. 8.
