UNL photojournalism students’ work will be featured at 7 p.m. March 13 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. The multimedia presentation, “Two Wings to Fly: Stories of fear, hope and economics in the Dominican Republic,” is free and open to the public.

The images and stories were collected during a depth-reporting trip to the Dominican Republic during the winter break. Students reported on topics and issues about the people and culture. A variety of stories, from sex workers and teen pregnancy to cockfighting and many more will be presented during the evening event.

The project is one of many in-depth projects that give students real-world international experience. This is the eighth trip to a foreign country to document a country’s people and culture.

More information about their trip is available here.

Students who participated in the depth-reporting project are Jake Crandall, Andrew Dickinson, Kaylee Everly, Jennifer Gotrik, Anna Gronewold, Nickolai Hammar, Matt Masin, Joseph Moore, Anna Reed, Faiz Siddiqui, Brianna Soukup, Cara Wilwerding and Shelby Wolfe.

Those interested in attending can RSVP on Facebook.
