UNL’s celebration of its 104th Homecoming concludes this weekend with a series of events across campus.

This year’s Homecoming is being celebrated under the theme of “125 Years of Nebraska Football.” It will culminate with the Nebraska vs. Illinois football game at 8 p.m. Sept. 27 at Memorial Stadium and the crowning of Homecoming king and queen.

The lawn display competition takes place at 10:30 on Sept. 26. At 6 p.m., the Homecoming parade kicks off at 16th and Vine streets, continues south on 16th to R, then west on R to its conclusion at 13th. A pep rally and jester competition immediately follow the parade on the Nebraska Union Plaza.

In addition, the Nebraska Alumni Association has a day of free activities planned for Sept. 26. One-hour campus tours leave from the Wick Alumni Center, 1520 R St., and run at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Call 1-888-353-1874 for more information.

The association will host Football Friday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at The Railyard, just southeast of Pinnacle Bank Arena. For more information, click here. And the Wick Alumni Center’s Holling Garden (16th and R streets) will be open to alumni and friends looking for a spot to view the Homecoming parade.

On Sept. 27, the undefeated Cornhusker football team hosts Illinois at Memorial Stadium at 8 p.m. The game, in which the Huskers will wear all-red alternate uniforms, will be broadcast by the Big Ten Network. At halftime of the game, UNL’s 2014 Homecoming king and queen will be crowned. For a full list of Homecoming royalty, click here.
