Students in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Prescribed/Wildfire Fire Program dig a fire line during Red Card training on East Campus on the morning of May 7. The course is led by Eric Moul, a fire management specialist with the Nebraska Forest Service. Earning the card is required for wildfire firefighters and shows that the students have demonstrated the necessary skills to work a fire incident.

The Nebraska Lectures will expand to a year-long series in celebration of the university's 150th anniversary in 2019. The first lecture, on Jan. 23, will examine the history of the Nebraska Unicameral. Pictured is the charter that officially created the university on Feb. 15, 1869.
