Registration opens Aug. 4 for Jr. Blackshirts, a football game day camp for children.

During home football games, UNL Campus Recreation provides recreational activities in a child care setting at the Campus Rec Center (one block east of Memorial Stadium). The camp, open to children between the ages of 2 and 12, begins 90 minutes prior to scheduled game time and ends 45 minutes after the game.

The program is administered by UNL professional staff and supported by highly motivated UNL students. The camp maintains a low child–to–staff ratio to maintain optimal supervision.

Children have a choice of activities in which they would like to participate and age appropriate toys and games are provided. Swimming is available for those participants 6 to 12 years of age. Other activities include relays and games, movies, crafts, board games, parachute games, basketball, football, soccer, volleyball and badminton.

Cost is $25 per child, per game. The deadline to register is the Wednesday prior to a game. Early registration is recommended as spots are limited.

• Aug. 30 – Florida Atlantic, time TBA • Sept. 6 – McNeese State, time TBA • Sept. 20 – Miami, 7 p.m. • Sept. 27 – Illinois, 8 p.m. • Oct. 25 – Rutgers, time TBA • Nov. 1 – Purdue, time TBA • Nov. 22 – Minnesota, time TBA
