Stuart Martens is serving as interim executive director of NUtech Ventures, the nonprofit corporation responsible for commercializing UNL’s intellectual property.

Martens succeeds executive director David Conrad, who recently accepted a position with the University of Iowa. The search for a permanent executive director is underway.

Meanwhile, Martens invites UNL faculty, students or staff to contact him or another member of the NUtech team regarding patents, licensing, startups or other intellectual property-related ideas, issues or needs.

Martens earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from UNL and his law degree from the University of Kansas. He joined NUtech as its patent attorney in 2008. He passed the patent bar in spring 2008. In 2007, he was a summer associate at Hovey Williams, an intellectual property law firm in Kansas City.
