Lied Center announces 2016-17 season schedule

Clint Black, Buddy Guy, Idina Menzel among performers

The Lied Center for Performing Arts’ 2016-17 season will feature country star Clint Black, blues legend Buddy Guy, violinist Itzhak Perlman, the political satire group The Capitol Steps and holiday concerts by Canadian Brass and Mannheim Steamroller.

The season will open Sept. 30 with Broadway, film and television star Idina Menzel and close with a six-show run of Roald Dahl’s “Matilda the Musical” May 31 to June 3.

The Glenn Korff Broadway Series also will bring in top musicals “Once,” Rogers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,” “Into The Woods,” “Mamma Mia” and “Defying Gravity.”

All tickets except for the Menzel concert will be available as part of a season ticket package beginning at 11 a.m. May 12.

A season ticket package is an order of four or more events. Members of the general public will receive a 10 percent discount for season ticket orders of four to seven events. Orders of eight or more events will receive a 20 percent discount. University of Nebraska-Lincoln students can place season ticket orders for three to five events at a 10 percent discount or six or more events at a 20 percent discount (in addition to the 50 percent discount all current UNL students receive on Lied Center tickets).

If the performances are not sold out through season ticket orders, any remaining tickets will be available for single-ticket purchase starting Aug. 16. Season ticket orders can be placed online here, by phone at 402-472-4747 or at the Lied Center box office, 301 N. 12th St.

Tickets for Menzel’s concert will be available in early June as part of a Broadway Fan Club season ticket order. Patrons who are Broadway Fan Club members (order tickets to at least three Broadway performances as part of their season ticket order) will gain first access to tickets to Menzel’s performance. Any remaining tickets will be available for purchase individually starting in July.
