Lecture to examine expansion of the definition of sanctity

Nancey Murphy

Guest speaker Nancey Murphy will argue that it is possible to extend the idea of sanctity beyond humans to all of nature during a 4 p.m., March 14 lecture in Andrews Hall’s Dudley Bailey Library. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Murphy is a professor of Christian philosophy at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. Taking a position she calls “eco-physicalism,” Murphy argues that it is possible to extend the definition of sanctity if one takes a anthropological view of humans being essentially physical beings.
