Innovation Studio hosts woodturners exhibit, reception

Members of the Great Plains Woodturning Club meet monthly at Nebraska Innovation Studio at Nebraska Innovation Campus.

Work by the Great Plains Woodturning Club of Lincoln will be displayed at Nebraska Innovation Studio starting March 21. An exhibit reception will be 5 to 7 p.m. April 1 in the NIS Cooper Foundation Makers Gallery.

The event is free and open to the public. The reception also will be invited to take self-guided tours of NIS.

Nebraska Innovation Studio, located at Nebraska Innovation Campus, is a collaborative maker space where creators of all sorts can share ideas, tools and knowledge.

The Great Plains Woodturners Club of Lincoln is a membership group of woodturning enthusiasts, new turners and wood artists. The club provides a place and time for people interested in woodturning to share their knowledge, enhance and improve their skills and enjoy the fellowship of other woodturners. The group freely shares their knowledge and experience to assist all woodturners in their quest to explore all facets of the art called woodturning.

Nebraska Innovation Studio has partnered with the Great Plains Woodturners Club for special events and the club meets on the third Tuesday of each month at NIS. Woodturner club members will also teach safety and operational trainings on the wood lathe in the studio.

“The Great Plains Woodturners have been wonderful to work with in the studio,” said Liana Owad, Nebraska Innovation Studio director. “These woodturners have much knowledge and expertise to share with our innovation studio users interested in lathe operations.”

The Great Plains Woodturners Club exhibit will be on display until May 13 during regular gallery hours. For gallery hours and more information, click here or contact Liana Owad at or 402-472-5510.
