Broadway actress Karen Morrow returns to the Lied stage for "Broadway at the Lied" Sept. 10.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Lied Center for Performing Arts will present a free concert featuring the music of composer Steven Lutvak, top Nebraska talent and Broadway actress and legend Karen Morrow at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 10.

The performance will take place on the Lied Center main stage and is free and open to the public. Tickets can be obtained at the Lied’s box office at 12th and Q streets, by phone at 402-472-4747 or online at http://liedcenter.org.

“I’m very excited about this,” Lutvak said. “It’s an evening of my songs, some of my stand-alone pieces and lots of my theater songs, since I’ve written in both camps. Cabaret songs, pop songs and theater songs – it will be some of each of them.”

Lutvak made his Broadway debut in 2013 as composer and co-lyricist of “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder,” which won the Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and Tony awards for best musical. The musical will make its Nebraska debut at the Lied Center Oct. 29 to Nov. 1 during the show’s first national tour.

“Broadway at the Lied” will highlight the venue’s second biennial ASCAP/Grow A Show New Musical Theatre Workshop, Sept. 9-11. Typically held in New York and Los Angeles, the workshop seeks new musical theater works with the potential to be developed and produced into full-scale productions and puts them in front of a live audience and a panel of respected Broadway industry experts. This year, Lutvak will serve as a workshop panelist.

The Sept. 10 concert will be directed by Alisa Belflower, coordinator of musical theater studies at the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, and will feature UNL students, alumni and local musicians alongside Lutvak and Morrow. Morrow is known worldwide for her theater, television, commercial, concert and cabaret appearances as well as her many awards.

Glenn Korff School of Music students will perform on the Lied stage alongside musical theater's biggest stars in a free concert Sept. 10.
