Graduate students set up a device to measure the rate of water flow in Salt Creek as part of the Irrigation Laboratory and Field Course taught by Nebraska’s Derek Heeren, associate professor of biological systems engineering.

One old-school alternative? Measuring the time it takes an orange to float between two points, which the team marked with strings that acted as starting and finish lines.
