Self-taught photographer and videographer Chris Burkard will visit the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on March 7.

He will host a photography workshop from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Nebraska Union Centennial Room. Students can register online.

Burkard will also participate in a question-and-answer session following a 7:30 p.m. screening of his documentary “Under an Arctic Sky” in the Nebraska Union Auditorium.

The documentary follows six surfers sailing along the frozen shores of Iceland. The daredevils surf under the northern lights as a storm, the worst to hit the country in 25 years, approaches.

Burkard is a world-renowned adventurer and landscape and commercial photographer who has worked with companies such as The North Face, Patagonia, Sony and Surfer Magazine. He has worked on campaigns with Fortune 500 clients, designed product lines, given a TED Talk, taught and written books.

The screening and discussion, sponsored by UPC Nebraska, are free for students with a valid NCard and $5 for faculty, staff and public.
