Women in IT focus of virtual conference

A watch party for “Lead From Where You Are,” the first virtual conference sponsored by the Big Ten Academic Alliance Women in Information Technology peer group, is 12:30 to 4:15 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Nebraska East Union.

The virtual conference is free and all are welcome to attend. It will include two keynote speakers, as well as a panel of three women at different stages of their IT careers.

Maureen Biggers, director of Indiana University’s Center of Excellence for Women in Technology, will serve as one of the keynotes. Biggers will discuss inclusive work practices and unconscious bias.

Ana Hunsinger, vice president of community engagement at Internet2, is the second keynote speaker. She will discuss championing women in IT.

The career panel speakers include Diane Dagefoerde, Ohio State; Kaylah Norris, Rutgers; and Laura Farvour, University of Minnesota.
