The University of Nebraska–Lincoln will be closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 2 for winter break. Employees return to work on Jan. 3.

Regular employees are eligible for holiday and floating holiday pay. This year, regular employees will use five floating holidays earned to be paid during the break. Those employees who do not have five floating holidays will substitute with vacation, banked holiday, comp time or unpaid leave.

Employees will need to submit their leave for the break via “Employee Self Service” in Firefly or a third-party system. Closedown dates and leave entry options are:

  • Dec. 23 — Floating holiday (or vacation, banked holiday used, comp time used or unpaid leave)
  • Dec. 26 — Holiday (in observance of Christmas Day)
  • Dec. 27-30 — Floating holiday (or vacation, banked holiday used, comp time used or unpaid leave)
  • Jan. 2 — Holiday (in observance of New Year’s Day)

Direct deposits will be issued Dec. 29 for biweekly paid employees and Dec. 30 for monthly-paid employees.

University employees should contact department/unit time coordinators for instruction on posting leave, correcting leave entries, or for other related questions.
