The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is welcoming more than 5,500 students back to campus residence halls between Aug. 13-16. The annual move-in marks the first time many Huskers been back since the university transitioned to remote instruction due to COVID-19 in March. While some move-in traditions remain, the four-day event has been altered to increase public health safety.

Students and their families arrived at the Bob Devaney Sports Center to pick up an NCard, sign University Health Center paperwork and receive textbook orders before getting packets with their room key card and other information.

To speed up the unloading process and reduce crowding in the building hallways, Nebraska also contracted with a national moving company to offer curbside move-in. Moving crews met families at their cars, unloaded students’ belongings and delivered items directly to their rooms.

Classes begin on a remote basis Aug. 17 and switch to in-person instruction on Aug. 24.
