Symphonic Band presents ‘Founder’s Day’

In celebration of Kappa Kappa Psi’s Centennial, the Glenn Korff School of Music’s Symphonic Band presents “Founder’s Day,” a program of commissioned pieces, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10 in Kimball Recital Hall. The event is one of four School of Music events this week.

Graduate assistant conductor Matthew Smoot will join Tony Falcone in conducting pieces by Joel Puckett, Frank Ticheli, Robert Russell Bennett, Julie Giroux and Bohumil Makovsky.

Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity is one of the most significant commissioners of concert band music in the world. In conjunction with Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, the National Intercollegiate Band Commissioning Program has produced many great works since 1951.

Tickets are $5 for adults, and $3 for students and senior citizens. The performance will also be webcast live.
