Short films made in three days by University of Nebraska–Lincoln students are featured today in the Cinema 16 72-Hour Film Festival.

The festival, which will run for about an hour, begins at 7 p.m. at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

Cinema 16 is a student filmmaking group within UNL’s Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. The group works to get students of all majors involved in filmmaking.

For the festival, participating students crafted short films on a variety of topics over a course of 72 hours (March 10-13).

“This festival is really a lot of fun,” said Danny Ladely, director of the Ross. “Most of the films are just a few minutes or so long, but it’s amazing to see what the students can accomplish in such a short amount of time.”

Awards — including an audience vote for fan favorite — will be awarded.

The film festival is open to the public. Admission is $5.
