The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Career Services is putting on targeted events this spring to bring opportunities for students, faculty and staff to learn strategies for federal job searches and to gain insight into careers with nonprofit organizations.

Federal Job Search Training

Federal job search expert, Kathryn Troutman, will share strategies for breaking into federal employment from 2 to 4 p.m. March 3 in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center, Unity Room.

Troutman is a well-known author, consultant and career trainer who assists job seekers interested in working for the United States government. She is the founder and president of The Resume Place, Inc, a service business and website that consults on, writes and designs federal and private-sector resumes. Troutman has published nine books over the course of her career and is known in federal hiring circles as the “federal resume guru.”

Students are encouraged to attend and will learn several strategies on how to better position qualifications on federal job search resume. Students can sign up through Handshake. University faculty and staff can sign up through Genius.

Meet the Nonprofits

Representatives from local and national nonprofits will discuss what careers look like in their field and will be available for conversations with students, faculty and staff from 1 to 2:30 p.m. April 8 in the Nebraska Union Ballroom.
