The Student Academy of Audiology at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will host its sixth Huskers for Hearing 5K Fun Run. The event, which is 9 a.m. April 7 on East Campus, benefits HearU Nebraska.

In addition to the 5K, the event includes a silent auction with items from area businesses. For the first time, the Huskers for Hearing 5K features a virtual option for individuals who would like to participate but are unable to attend the event in Lincoln.

Registration for the race is available online. Cost is $35 for ages 8 and older and includes a water bottle. Children ages 7 and under are free, but the cost is $7 for a water bottle. Participants may also register the morning of the 5K with cash or check payments.

Individuals who wish to participate in the virtual fun run may register online.

The virtual run, which has a $40 registration fee and also includes a water bottle, may be completed anytime the weekend of April 6-8. Participants are asked to email photos of their distance tracking devices to unl.saaudiology@gmail.com.

Proceeds from the Huskers for Hearing 5K and the silent auction benefit HearU Nebraska, a non-profit organization that provides hearing aids to children across Nebraska birth to 18 years of age who might not otherwise be able to afford them.

Proceeds will assist the the university’s Student Academy of Audiology by providing travel grants for members to attend professional conferences.
