The Nebraska Alumni Association will host former Scarlet and Cream Singers for a 50th anniversary weekend celebration Sept. 29-30.

Activities throughout the weekend will include campus tours, a private dinner at Screamers Restaurant in the Haymarket and a private tailgate at the AKRS Champions Club on Sept. 30. In addition, the group will sing the national anthem prior to kickoff between the Huskers and Michigan Wolverines at Memorial Stadium.

Created in 1972 by alumni center director Jack Miller, the Scarlet and Cream Singers — or “Screamers” as they were called by those close to the program — performed as an outreach component of the Alumni Association for 35 years.

“We’re thrilled to host this group of alumni,” said Shelley Zaborowski, Nebraska Alumni Association executive director and former Scarlet and Cream program coordinator. “It is always a joy to bring loyal alumni back to campus to celebrate their achievements and honor their past, present and future dedication to the university.”

Questions about the reunion can be directed to Hanna Peterson at hpeterson@huskeralum.org.
