RDAR Center seminar series continues Feb. 8

Tiffany Marcantonio

Tiffany Marcantonio will give a virtual talk, “What do we need to know to prevent substance facilitated sexual assaults?” at 1:30 p.m., Feb. 8, via Zoom.

The event is free and open to the public, but participants must register for the Zoom link.

In the seminar, she will focus on current questions in the field of sexual assault prevention that may need to be answered to develop more effective prevention efforts for sexual assault. This talk will focus on substance use and sexual communication with an emphasis on how substance use influences consent communication and how that relates to sexual assault.

Marcantonio received her doctorate in community health promotion from University of Arkansas and completed fellowship training at Indiana University in the Applied Health Science Department. Her work focuses on sexual violence prevention and includes three areas: how people communicate consent; how people communicate refusals; and how third-party people can intervene when they witness a sexual assault situation.

This talk is sponsored by the Rural Drug Addiction Research Center, and it is an installment within their Seminar Series.
