*EDITOR’S NOTE — As of 9 a.m. July 11, phone service has been restored to all nine City Campus buildings.

Windstream is working to repair a damaged underground cable that disabled a number of University of Nebraska–Lincoln telephone lines, including those used for emergencies.

The outage, caused by construction around 14th and Vine streets, was reported at about 11:30 a.m. July 9. It resulted in phone line outages in nine buildings north and south of the intersection.

Service has been restored to four of the buildings — Canfield Administration Building, Nebraska Union, Morrill Hall and East Stadium. Work to reestablish phone line connections to the other five buildings north of Vine Street is ongoing. Those buildings are the City Campus utility plant, Harper-Schramm-Smith Dining Center, Smith Hall, Outdoor Adventures Center and the 14th and Avery parking garage.

Windstream reported that all phone lines should be repaired by the afternoon of July 11.

The disruption includes phones in elevators in the buildings. In the event you are in one of these buildings and require emergency service, University Police urge you to call 402-472-2222 or 911 via cell phone.

If conditions change, additional updates will be provided to the campus community.
