A new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” is coming to the Lied Center for Performing Arts for a 15-show run from Oct. 23-Nov. 3.

With reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, Cameron Mackintosh’s version of the popular musical is performed by a cast and orchestra of 52, making it one of the largest productions on tour in North America.

Tickets to the musical will be available as part of the Glenn Korff Broadway Series package. The entire series will be announced Feb. 25, with ticket packages on sale at 11 a.m. that day. To purchase tickets, click here, call 402-472-4747 or visit the Lied Center box office at 301 N. 12th St.

“We could not be more excited about hosting ‘The Phantom of the Opera,’ the most-popular Broadway show in history, for the Lied Center’s 30th-anniversary season,” said Bill Stephan, executive director of the Lied. “This blockbuster musical is the perfect follow-up to the record-setting performance run of ‘The Book of Mormon’ during the Lied’s 2018-19 season. This spectacular new production, coming to the Lied for the very first time, will thrill Lincoln and greater Nebraska with the extraordinary number of hit Broadway songs and gorgeous production elements.”

“Phantom of the Opera” has been performed on Broadway for a record 31 years. The Mackintosh production opened in 2013 and has been seen by more than 4.5 million people across North America.

Based on the classic novel “Le Fantôme de L’Opéra” by Gaston Leroux, “The Phantom of the Opera” tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and employing all of the devious methods at his command.
