‘One Fine Morning’ opens March 3 at the Ross

Finely wrought to a fault, opening at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center March 3, “One Fine Morning” presents a subtle, well-acted look at life and love.

Continuing is “Only in Theaters.”

“One Fine Morning” tells the story of Sandra (Lea Seydoux) who is a widowed young mother raising her daughter on her own, while also caring for her sick father (Pascal Greggory). She’s dealing with the loss of the relationship she once had with her father, while she and her mother and sister fight to get him the care he requires. At the same time, Sandra reconnects with Clément (Melvil Poupaud), a friend she hasn’t seen in a while and, although he’s married, their friendship soon blossoms into a passionate affair.

“Only in Theaters” tells the story of two European Jewish immigrant brothers (who happened to be the cousins of famed movie mogul Carl Laemmle, founder of Universal Pictures) escaped fascist Germany right before World War II. They came to America and opened a movie theater. By the 1960’s, the dynamic Laemmle family owned and operated 6 theaters in the Los Angeles developing an outsized influence on cinema. Over four generations, the Laemmles—a close-knit Jewish family—have dedicated themselves to supporting, innovating and elevating the art of filmmaking.
