After 20 years of service at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Diane Mendenhall is transitioning to a new role with the Lincoln Community Foundation.

Mendenhall joined the university in February of 2000 after being selected by head coach John Cook to serve as the Nebraska volleyball program’s first director of operations. She went on to serve as assistant athletic director of development (2004-2008) and senior associate athletics director of development and ticketing (2014-2018), both for Nebraska Athletics.

Mendenhall stepped away from the Huskers for six years to lead the Nebraska Alumni Association as the executive director (2008-2014). Most recently, she served as associate to the chancellor and played a key role marshaling the university’s 150th year celebration in 2019.

“As I reflect on my 20 years, my greatest memories and feelings of success have come from the relationships with the students, student-athletes, donors and friends of the university, as well as many of the coaches, staff, and faculty,” Mendenhall said. “Together the teams I have been a part of and the teams I have been privileged to lead have done amazing work to advance the mission of this state’s cherished land-grant institution.”

Mendenhall is transitioning to serve as vice president for planned giving with the Lincoln Community Foundation. She has served for six years on the foundation’s board of directors. The new position includes focuses on working with donors, assisting non-profits and impacting the community.

“I am excited this new position will indirectly be tied to helping advance the mission of the university,” Mendenhall said.
