Yamiche Alcindor, White House correspondent for PBS NewsHour and contributor for NBC News and MSNBC, will present a lecture at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 in the Willa S. Cather Dining Complex, Red Cloud Rooms A, B and C.

Alcindor’s lecture is part of University Housing’s Multicultural Awareness and Diversity Education series. The series brings prominent speakers to campus to lecture on various issues relating to diversity and social justice.

Before joining NewsHour, Alcindor worked as a national political reporter for The New York Times where she covered presidential campaigns, Congress and the impact of President Donald Trump’s policies.

She often tells stories about the intersection of race and politics, as well as fatal police encounters. Before joining The Times, she was a national breaking news reporter for USA Today and traveled across the country to cover stories including the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut; the death of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida; and the police related protests in Ferguson, Missouri, and Baltimore, Maryland.
