Jazz in June supporters are invited to the 2018 Jazz in January fundraiser from 8 to 10 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Boiler Grand Hall, a new venue on the third floor of the Grand Manse building at 10th and P streets in Lincoln.

The Mitch Towne Quartet will perform. The 21-and-over event will feature both seating and room for dancing. All proceeds will go to Jazz in June programming.

Attendees will have the first opportunity to join Jazz in June’s new membership program, The Rhythm Club. Members will enjoy VIP seating and meet-and-greets with artists, and can be recognized as event sponsors. Membership supports the booking of top artists from around the world and new education programs, and helps keep the concert series free.

Towne is a Grammy-nominated keyboardist from Omaha. His ability to move seamlessly between diverse styles has made him a highly sought-after performer. He has played with such artists as Terrace Martin, Ryan Kisor, Dave Stryker, Adam Larson, Marcus Lewis, Eric Gales, Ben Poole and Ron E. Beck. He will be joined Jan. 26 by Kansas City musicians Peter Schlamb on vibes, Marcus Lewis on trombone and Brian Steever on drums.

The Boiler Grand Hall, with its intricate 24-foot-tall oak walls, ornate crown molding, polished maple floors and stunning murals, is a one-of-a-kind venue. The former federal courtroom includes the original judge’s bench, which has been outfitted to provide beverage service. Sound-damping draperies set the room for amazing acoustics. Original leather-upholstered doors open into a marble foyer with walls filled with Lincoln history.

Tickets to Jazz in January are available at Boiler Brewing Company, 129 N. 10th St., and here. Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 at the door.
