IGNITE to feature visual effects supervisor Claus April 22

Trent Claus, an award-winning visual effects supervisor with Lola Visual Effects (VFX) will be featured at IGNITE at 12:30 p.m. April 22 in the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts.

The event is free and open to the public, and is also accessible via Zoom.

Claus, who is a 2006 graduate of the School of Art, Art History and Design, has worked on more than 120 feature films. Films include 19 Academy Award nominees for Best Visual Effects (4 winners), 10 nominees for Best Picture (1 winner) and with a cumulative worldwide box office of more than $45 billion.

Claus is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Visual Effects Society (VES). In 2012, he was awarded the VES Award for Outstanding Compositing in a Feature Motion Picture for his groundbreaking work on “Captain America: The First Avenger.” In 2020 he was nominated for Outstanding Compositing once again for “Captain Marvel,” in which he de-aged the character Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson.

Over the course of Marvel Studios’ history, Claus has contributed to 21 out of 27 films, including his work as visual effects supervisor on “Avengers: Endgame,” “Captain Marvel,” “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and others. Most recently, he has worked with Lucasfilm and Disney+ to bring the Star Wars series “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett” to life.

Other notable films he has worked on include “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “The Social Network,” “Star Trek,” “Avatar” and “Prometheus.”

The Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts is located at 13th and Q streets on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln city campus.

The IGNITE colloquium is for all Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts students, which involves guest lectures, workshops and seminars around creative and professional development.
