Four Husker teams win Paper Anvil Awards

The Jacht Agency won seven awards of merit during the Paper Anvil Awards, presented by the Nebraska chapter of the Public Relations Society of America on Dec. 7. Four University of Nebraska–Lincoln teams won Paper Anvil Awards from the Nebraska chapter of the Public Relations Society of America on Dec. 7. Shari Veil, dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, was also named Nebraska Professional of the Year.

The fall 2022 Campaigns class won best of show in the student category, along with three awards of excellence. Jacht, a full-service, student-led advertising agency in the journalism college, won seven awards of merit. The UNL chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America won an award of excellence, and the 2023 Bateman Case Study Competition team won an award of merit.

The annual competition recognizes the best work by Nebraska’s public relations, marketing and communication professionals.

“These awards highlight our students’ outstanding work and dedication to pursuing excellence in public relations,” said Brian Hubbard, assistant professor of practice and co-chair of the college’s student competitions committee. “We are committed to providing our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape, and these awards are a testament to the success of our program.”

Campaigns class

A senior capstone course in the advertising and public relations program, Campaigns, won four awards for its “Take Initiative: Know More. Do More. Inform More.” campaign, including an award of excellence in the classroom campaign category, an award of excellence in the events category, an award of excellence in the DEI and social justice projects category and student best in show.
