Faculty, staff submissions sought for senior design course
University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty and staff can submit software project ideas for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering’s 2019-2020 senior design course.
Students enrolled in the Senior Design course spend two semesters working in teams of five or six on a software project sponsored by members of local industry or university faculty/staff. The course provides students with the hands-on educational and professional experience that comes with contributing to a real-world project.
Previous projects have served a variety of fields and industries and have been developed with many types of technologies and coding languages. Offered project types include mobile apps, data analytics and visualization, web-based systems, gaming technologies, and machine learning systems.
The internal sponsor commitment is $11,500 and a time commitment of two to three hours each week. Sponsors attend meetings and assist the team with the development of the project. The cost of each project covers administrative expenses.
As only a limited number of projects can be completed within the course each year, not all submissions will be accepted. Submissions will be reviewed and selected by a panel of course advisers.
