Deadline approaching for final Jumpstart workshop

Registration for Spring Research Fair poster competition is open.

The deadline for faculty to apply for the Office of Research and Economic Development’s final Jumpstart workshop on funding opportunities related to pathogen-host interaction is July 25.

The workshop is Aug. 8-10 at the Ken Morrison Life Sciences Research Center, 4240 Fair St.

Faculty from all ranks and disciplines are encouraged to apply, as the workshop aims to connect participants with researchers across campus. University administrators and workshop leaders will select up to 35 faculty to participate. Knowinnovation’s Andy Burnett and Donnalyn Roxey will facilitate the event.

Guided by information generated from previous Jumpstart events, faculty will have the opportunity to form collaborative teams that could generate funding ideas on pathogen-host interactions. Attendees may also be able to serve as principal investigators on proposals requesting seed grant funding for up to $150,000 over two years, which support new lines of research.

Additionally, there will be a “coffee talk” from 8:30 to 10 a.m. July 31 at The Mill Coffee and Bistro at Nebraska Innovation Campus. This informal event will allow Nebraska researchers to continue discussions that have taken place about pathogen-host interactions. Complimentary coffee and breakfast pastries will be provided. Faculty can RSVP online.
