Cornhusker Bonspiel curling tournament opens Jan. 19

Husker curlers will compete against teams from across the country at a tournament in Lincoln this weekend.

The first round of the Cornhusker Bonspiel will start at 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at Breslow Ice Hockey Center. Fourteen teams from 10 schools, including the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Curling Club, will compete in a round robin tournament. Games will resume at 8 a.m. Jan. 20 and continue throughout the day. The last round of the day will begin at 8:30 p.m.

A bagpiper will play the teams into the arena at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 21, with the tournament finals to follow.

The event is open to the public. It is free for students and children under 13. Non-students are asked to contribute a free will donation.
