Career Services is transitioning to Handshake, an online, college employment platform used by more than 400 institutions and 200,000-plus employers.

Handshake, which replaces Husker Hire Link, offers a variety of features and makes it easier for users to manage resumes, connect with employers and get a start on future career plans. It is also the university’s leading source for students seeking on-campus employment.

“Colleges, departments and units across the university are highly encouraged to start posting open student positions in Handshake as soon as possible,” said Bill Watts, director of advising and career services. “New Student Enrollment is in full swing and our new students are already logging into Handshake and seeking jobs for the upcoming academic year.”

Faculty and staff can gain access to post in Handshake by contacting Amber Pape at apape2@unl.edu or 402-472-3145.

Existing users of Husker Hire Link are encouraged to move any existing documents — including resumes and coverletters — to Handshake. Access to Husker Hire Link will close June 30.

Handshake is available online and students can start creating profiles immediately.

Students can use Handshake to upload a resume; create an online career profile; learn about employers attending upcoming career fairs; view details about on-campus career events; research contact information for employers; and search for and apply to open positions.
