Art historian Mary Pardo will present the next Hixson-Lied Visiting Scholar Lecture at 5:30 p.m. April 11 in Richards Hall, Room 15. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Each semester, the Visiting Scholar Lecture series brings notable artists, scholars and designers to Nebraska to enhance the education of students. Each visiting artist spends one to three days on campus meeting with classes, participating in critiques and giving demonstrations.

Pardo is an associate professor in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill. She specializes in Italian Renaissance art and art criticism and has published essays on Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci and Titian.

Throughout her career, Pardo has explored the comical side of serious art. She currently studies the relationship between images of love and religious worship during the Renaissance.
