Academic Planning Committee seeks feedback on proposed budget reductions

The Academic Planning Committee is offering the University of Nebraska–Lincoln community an opportunity to provide feedback regarding the recent $10.8 million budget reduction proposal.

Announced in an April 14 email from Chancellor Ronnie Green, the proposal primarily includes a reduction in operating costs, the elimination of vacant positions, shifting the funding for some positions to sources other than state-aided funds, and eliminating administrative salary costs. A complete overview is available here.

The proposal is under review by the Academic Planning Committee. To further the process, the committee is asking students, faculty and staff to provide feedback electronically. The online form will be available through May 14.

An announcement outlining the final outcome of the $10.8 million budget reduction proposal will be made prior to June 1. Approved reductions will go into effect for fiscal year 2024.
