52 COVID-19 cases tracked; vaccination rates increase

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln reported 52 positive cases of COVID-19 during the week of Oct. 15-21.

In that same span, 3,917 tests were completed on students, faculty and staff. The positivity rate during the week was 1.32%.

Tests are conducted through the university’s saliva-based reentry testing program, the University Health Center and off-campus medical facilities.

Since fall semester re-entry testing began on Aug. 15, 1,083 positive cases have been recorded out of 78,219 tests, for a positivity rate of 1.38%.

The COVID-19 vaccination rates among students, faculty and staff continues to increase. As reported through the university’s voluntary vaccine registry on Oct. 21, 79.33% of the university community is fully-vaccinated against COVID-19. That is up from 78.3% on Oct. 7.

Broken down the current self-reported vaccination rates among campus groups is 85% for faculty, 77% for staff, and 76% for students.

This report is generated weekly and will be presented in Nebraska Today every Monday through the fall semester. Data is gathered from the university’s COVID-19 dashboard, which is tracking case and test totals daily. All COVID-19 testing information is provided to the university from the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department.
