The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is extending an invitation that allows all 2020 graduates to participate in an in-person commencement celebration on Aug. 13-14 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the university held commencement exercises virtually in 2020. Led by national successes in vaccination and virus declines, the university is gradually returning to normal activity levels. Recent campus shifts include holding a physically-distanced commencement on May 8; planning for 100 percent in-person courses in the fall 2021 semester; and hosting the expanded August commencement with 2020 graduates.

“This is your chance to experience all the pomp and circumstance of an in-person Nebraska commencement ceremony surrounded by your fellow graduates and family — and to cross the stage,” the May 18 message to 2020 grads read.

Graduates have until June 4 to reserve their spot in the celebration. An RSVP form is available here. Final details on the August ceremony will be announced no later than the week of June 28.

All 2020 graduates who cannot attend the August commencement will continue to have the opportunity to participate in future in-person graduation celebrations.
