As a result of an executive order issued Dec. 11, Gov. Pete Ricketts has announced that Nebraska’s governmental agencies will be closed Dec. 24. State law provides that whenever the U.S. government gives federal employees paid time off, Nebraska shall grant the same benefit to state employees.
The majority of University of Nebraska–Lincoln employees will not be working Dec. 24 due to the annual winter closedown. Holiday-eligible university employees were previously scheduled to use floating holidays, vacation and/or unpaid leave to cover the closedown.
Human Resources has issued new guidance on how to enter leave time for university employees. Details are available here. For more information or assistance, employees should contact their department payroll office for guidance.
