Nominations open for Staff Senate awards

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Staff Senate’s Recognition Committee is now seeking nominations for eight staff awards designed to celebrate the dedication of employees across the university and Nebraska Extension.

These annual honors align with the aims and overarching principle of the Odyssey to Extraordinary, recognizing that every person and every interaction matter in pursuit of excellence. Submissions are being accepted starting Jan. 16 and will remain open through April 3. 

The awards recognize excellence across a variety of impact areas: 

  • Student Experiences Award
  • Research Impact Award
  • Problem Solver Award
  • Engagement Award
  • Inclusive Excellence Award
  • Professional Development Award
  • Staff Advocacy Award
  • Customer Service Award
Eligibility and Selection 

Any non-probationary staff member of the university or Nebraska Extension in good standing is eligible to receive these awards. Individuals may nominate a colleague or themselves for any category that exemplifies extraordinary service. 

All nominators and nominees will be notified in April. The winners will be celebrated during the closing ceremony of the All Staff Conference on July 30.

About the Staff Senate 

The Staff Senate serves as an advisory body to university leadership, advocating for staff welfare and participating in the formulation of institutional policy. The Recognition Committee, one of nine standing committees, is specifically dedicated to honoring the approximately 4,000 staff members who serve as the backbone of the university.
