The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s next CEO Action event will examine best practices to blend diversity and inclusion into a workplace intent on creating a sense of belonging.
The event, offered via Zoom, is 9 to 10:30 a.m. April 28 and will be led by Chancellor Ronnie Green and Marco Barker, vice chancellor of diversity and inclusion. They will be joined by Michael Slepian, Sanford C. Bernstein and Co. Associate Professor of leadership and ethics at Columbia University; and Sarah Singletary Walker, vice president for equity, diversity and inclusion at Creighton University.
The conversation will provide tangible tools to help employees feel respected, valued and supported. Slepian’s Harvard Business Review article, “Are your D&I Efforts Helping Employees Feel Like They Belong,” is the inspiration for the event.
“An organization with a diverse workforce is not necessarily an inclusive one because it does not necessarily lead to a sense of belonging,” Slepian said.
Registration, which is required, is available here.
The presentation is part of CEO Action’s Day of Understanding, which encourages organizations to host candid conversations that create opportunities for collaboration, further learning, and advance diversity and inclusion efforts.
The event is an extension of the university’s continued participation in CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion, the largest CEO- and president-driven initiative of its kind in the United States. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is the first institution of higher learning in the state to join the movement.
