'Fa la la' laser shows to light up planetarium

Mueller Planetarium at the University of Nebraska State Museum will light up with laser shows for one weekend only, Nov. 29-30. Shows include family-friendly “Winter Holiday Laser Adventure” and “Lasermania.”

“Winter Holiday Laser Adventure” (40 minutes) features long-time favorites like “Let it Snow,” “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Sleigh Ride,” as well as current pop songs in a captivating laser-light show. Along the way, follow the adventures of the world’s only laser penguin, Squeaky, as he tries to figure out how best to return home to Antarctica for the holidays, a big challenge for small, flightless bird. Showtimes are 10 and 11 a.m. and noon Nov. 29, and 2 p.m. Nov. 30.

The pinnacle of high-energy laser shows, “Lasermania” (40 minutes) provides a pure sensory adrenaline rush with a collection of the most current rock and pop hits available in any laser show on the planet. Showtimes are 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Nov. 29 and 3 p.m. Nov. 30.

Show admission is $6 for non-member adults and $5 for non-member children (all ages); $5 for Friends of the Museum members (with ID card) plus regular museum admission. Tickets will be sold on a first-come first-served basis the day of the show at the front desk in Morrill Hall. For more information, go to http://www.spacelaser.com or call 402-472-2641.
