Matters related to immigration, poverty and social inclusion will be explored in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s annual Critical Issues Forum.
The forum, “Our Nebraska: Toward an Understanding of Immigration, Poverty and Social Inclusion,” is 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. March 5 at Southeast Community College, 8800 O St. It is hosted by the university’s Department of Educational Administration.
Sessions will highlight immigration processes, experiences from immigrants living in Nebraska, educational resources available to support immigrant students and potential economic issues immigrants face.
Speakers - which will include immigrants, community resources center staff and immigration reform advocates - will explain how some issues and systematic problems can be addressed despite immigrant stereotypes, public policy changes, community resources and educational support.
The forum is organized by Shavonna Holman, Stephani Bondi, Richard Torraco and Marilyn Grady, all educational administration faculty.
Registration, which is available online, is free. Learn more about the Critical Issues Forum.
