The Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases will host this year’s annual retreat April 12 at the Sheldon Museum of Art.
University faculty, postdoctoral researchers, students, staff, industry partners and other interested parties are invited for this opportunity to explore relevant topics and to network with fellow researchers in academia and industry.
Attending the retreat is free, and registration in advance is required. Registrations will be filled on a first come basis and will close when all seats are reserved or by April 3. Free registration includes continental breakfast, lunch and closing reception with poster competition awards.
The theme this year is obesity and will feature nationally recognized experts: Lisa Cassis, University of Kentucky; Robert Raffai, University of California, San Francisco; Jurgen Naggert, Jackson Laboratories; and Joel Elmquist, University of Texas Southwestern.
The retreat will conclude in the afternoon with a poster session that will provide an opportunity for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to showcase their research. This reception for all attendees will also provide an opportunity for conversation with the speakers.
The posters will be judged by NPOD and Nebraska Gateway to Nutrigenomics faculty. Certificates and cash awards will be announced at the end of the day for the three top posters. Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers are invited to enter a poster for the competition when completing the registration form on the website.
Funding for the retreat has been provided by the National Institute Of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health.
