The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has launched a new Career Success Platform designed to help students strengthen their academic experience with career-relevant skills they can apply in internships, research experiences and early career roles.
Available at no cost, these credentials are non-credit and self-paced, allowing students to engage with the material on their own schedule. Undergraduate and graduate students can earn digital badges and certificates that serve as clear, shareable proof of skills and competencies, adding practical value to their resumes while remaining fully focused on completing their degree programs.
The platform features courses developed by leading employers, including Google, Meta, IBM, Microsoft and more, through Coursera Career Academy in the fields of:
- Software engineering and information technology;
- Data science and analytics;
- Sales and marketing; and
- Business operations and support.
“The Career Success Platform gives students a flexible way to complement their degree by building practical skills and tangible credentials that connect their academic learning to real-world applications and future career opportunities,” said Kevin Shriner, assistant vice chancellor for digital and online learning.
The Career Success Platform acts as a “career backpack,” providing industry-recognized credentials that can be easily shared on LinkedIn to showcase students' skills during their academic career and beyond graduation.
Students can request access to the platform online. Contact online@unl.edu with questions.
