Capitol Steps to perform at the Lied

The Capitol Steps

As Election Day draws near, the Capitol Steps, a D.C.-based political satire group, has plenty of sources of comedic inspiration. The group will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Lied Center for Performing Arts.

Tickets are on sale here, by phone at 402-472-4747 or at the Lied Center box office, 301 N. 12th St. Tickets are available to students at a 50 percent discount with a valid NCard.

The Capitol Steps spoof the latest political headlines in the form of sketch comedy, song and dance. They’ve kept audiences across the country laughing for years by tastefully poking fun at both sides of the aisle.

Beginning as a group of Senate staffers looking to liven up the office Christmas party, the Capitol Steps have evolved further than perhaps anyone could have imagined. Since forming in 1981, the group has released more than 25 albums, including 2016’s “What to Expect When You’re Electing.” The group has also appeared on The Today Show, Nightline and the CBS Evening News and in specials for National Public Radio.

The performance is supported by Gold Event Sponsors Chuck and Karen Harris and Art and Chris Zygielbaum.
