In the newest episode of "Shaping the Future," Dr. Jeffrey P. Gold, president of the University of Nebraska system, interviewed Carrick Detweiler, professor in the School of Computing. The discussion explored Detweiler's startup, Drone Amplified, and how his research is helping fight and prevent wildfires.
Detweiler, Drone Amplified’s co-founder and chief executive officer, discussed the background, inspiration and uses of the company’s signature product, IGNIS; a drone-based system that allows firefighters to control wildfires while staying out of harm’s way. He also talks about the critical role commercialization plays in bringing university research and discoveries from the lab to the marketplace.
