While developing and managing mail, web, telephone and in-person surveys as well as focus groups, the Bureau of Sociological Research has been instrumental in supporting research across the state of Nebraska. In the past fiscal year, the bureau continued to provide research support to both university and state stakeholders while adapting to the ever changing climate of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bureau’s annual report for the 2021-2022 fiscal year is now available.
Studies featured in the report include:
- The Future of Work Survey, which was used to evaluate attitudes toward remote work and other work-related issues at the University of Nebraska
- The Career Services First Destination Survey, which allows Career Services to understand what UNL graduates do upon finishing their degrees
- The State of Sustainability and Resilience Survey, used to understand whether the university is making progress toward the objectives outlined in the 2020 Environment, Sustainability and Resilience Master Plan
- Department Major and Alumni Surveys for Academic Program Reviews, which allowed departments to have an outside evaluator to provide insights into how student experiences at UNL allowed them to meet departmental educational goals and understand their career trajectory since graduation
- Student Health and Risk Prevention Surveys, administered on the behalf of the Nebraska Department of Education and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services which helps schools and communities identify and assess issues that are prevalent in their area
The bureau worked on 119 projects in the past fiscal year, supported research for all nine of UNL’s colleges, and will continue to work on a number of new and ongoing projects in order to further facilitate research in the coming years in Nebraska.
